Agro In Vitro: Agrobank presented innovations in agriculture

The issue of increasing agricultural productivity and ensuring food security is becoming relevant all over the world, and Uzbekistan is no exception.

Agrobank presented an advanced solution by creating an ecosystem of unique projects in the field of agriculture, one of which is Agro Invitro.

The Agro Invitro project, based on the latest technologies, is designed to ensure the cultivation of high-yielding and export seedlings of fruit crops, as well as reduce imports of ornamental trees and flowers. On the basis of the project, a laboratory complex designed for growing model seedlings on an area of 20.4 hectares has been launched in the Gallaaral district of the Jizzakh region.

The main goal of the project is to grow seedlings with high yields and guaranteed export potential using modern breeding and genetic technologies. The total cost of the project is US$ 20 million and includes all stages of seedling cultivation.

The official presentation of the project took place on June 7 this year at the Agro Invitro complex. The project introduced a new approach to growing seedlings in our country. The Agro Invitro laboratory was developed in cooperation with a leading European company from the Netherlands. The laboratory provides automatic and systematic cultivation of seedlings in conditions protected from the environment, free from viruses and diseases. This guarantees the high quality of the seedlings.

Agro Invintro is a complex where plant seedlings and seeds are provided to farmers and entrepreneurs. This is such a unique project that it has no analogues in the CIS. Agro Invintro takes over the entire process of growing plants. 20 million dollars were invested, and as a result we received 5,000 plants of 40 species from Spain and Italy. Now our farmers will have access to such plants," said Erkin Kakhorov, Acting First Deputy Chairman of the Board of AKB Agrobank

A 5th generation glass greenhouse was also built, creating an automated artificial microclimatic environment. These greenhouse technologies are expected to provide up to 50 percent energy savings in heating and cooling processes.

To diversify the varieties of seedlings, a garden of 6,000 certified foreign fruits, grapes and ornamental seedlings of 40 different varieties has been created on 5 hectares of land. A nursery has been created on an area of 10 hectares to prepare fruit and ornamental trees and grape seedlings for the planting season. As a result of the project, 10 million seedlings per year will be grown in the complex.

The Agro Invitro project promises to become a key element in increasing agricultural productivity and ensuring food security in Uzbekistan, opening up new prospects for domestic agriculture and international cooperation.
