The President ordered the construction of 10 mudflow reservoirs

President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev has given instructions to build 10 mudflow reservoirs to improve irrigation of 50 thousand hectares of land. This was reported by the presidential press secretary Sherzod Asadov.

The head of state held a meeting on the efficient use of water and energy resources in agriculture. The meeting discussed the collection and use of spring and autumn flood waters for irrigation.

“For example, 36 million cubic meters of water are inefficiently drained from the stream flowing through the mahallas of Khonnazor, Chorlok, Kurgon, Shovona and Kiykim in the Koshrabat district every year,” the president noted.

According to him, if a small reservoir is built here, it will be possible to develop 2.5 thousand hectares of land, provide the population with new plots for intensive vegetable cultivation, employ 4 thousand unemployed people and lift 600 families out of poverty.

The construction of such reservoirs in the Kashkadarya, Namangan, Surkhandarya and Tashkent regions, as well as in nine districts of Fergana, will improve the irrigation of 50 thousand hectares of land.
