Uzbekistan will start planting olive plantations
100 thousand seedlings are ready for planting.Uzbek specialists have prepared over 100 thousand seedlings of olive trees adapted to local conditions.
This variety was created in the laboratory of microclonal reproduction of fruit and ornamental trees, which is located in the Jambai district of the Samarkand region.
This was made possible thanks to a new variety of orbikin bred in Spain a few years ago, which withstands frosts up to -22 degrees.
Olive trees are ideal for Uzbekistan, as they are unpretentious to soil and water, grow on rocky and saline lands.
Farmers in the Ferghana Valley and Surkhandarya region have established olive plantations.
About 800 seedlings are planted on 1 hectare, and in three years you can harvest almost a ton and get 300 liters of oil. It is planned to cultivate olives on more than 500 hectares.
