Uzbekistan and Austria will expand cooperation in livestock farming

Uzbekistan and Austria intend to expand cooperation in the field of breeding livestock, veterinary medicine, and trade in animal products.

These issues were discussed by the Chairman of the Food Safety Committee of Uzbekistan, Azizbek Urunov, with the Director General of the Austrian Agricultural Cluster (AAC), Hermann Wieser, and the Trade Counselor of the Austrian Embassy, Rudolf Lukavsky.

This was reported by the Food Safety Committee.

The parties considered opportunities to expand trade in breeding cattle, organize exports of animal products, and exchange experience in the veterinary field.

Special attention was paid to the application of Austrian practices in the field of breeding livestock and genetics. In particular, the implementation of joint projects for obtaining embryos of breeding cattle and their transplantation was discussed.

An agreement was also reached to improve the qualifications of Uzbek veterinary specialists in Austria. In addition, practical seminars and training sessions with the participation of Austrian experts are planned to be held in Uzbekistan.

According to the committee, as of October 2026, Uzbekistan imported from Austria 1,500 head of breeding Simmental cattle, 714 tons of veterinary drugs and feed additives, as well as 4.7 tons of dairy products.

Over the same period, exports of animal products from Uzbekistan to Austria amounted to 34.5 tons.
