Uzbekistan will allocate additional funding to support livestock projects

Uzbekistan will allocate additional financial resources to support projects in the field of livestock farming, reports press service of the head of state.

At a meeting to analyze economic growth rates in regions and industries in the first half of the year, issues of curbing inflation and ensuring food security were discussed.

President Shavkat Mirziyoyev noted that, despite the previous commitments made by regional khokims to keep inflation at no higher than 3% during January-June, this task was not fulfilled in most regions.

Due to rising meat prices, 300 billion soums have been allocated to cover the costs of air transportation of imported meat.

Additional funds will be allocated to support livestock projects. By the end of the year, the goal is to import 100 thousand heads of cattle and 150 thousand heads of sheep and goats.

Measures were also identified for the formation of reserves of fruits and vegetables and potatoes, the construction of refrigerated warehouses and the replenishment of food reserves. By the end of the year, the task has been set to put into operation 340 refrigerated warehouses with a total storage capacity of 87 thousand tons.
