Uzbekistan, New Zealand discuss development of bilateral relations

On 25 June 2018, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of New Zealand Hill Ian Alexander held a meeting the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

The main attention was paid to current issues of Uzbekistan – New Zealand agenda and prospects for its expansion, the Uzbek Foreign Ministry said in a statement.

The sides noted a significant untapped potential for development of bilateral relations in practically all areas of cooperation.

As it was emphasized, both sides are equally interested and see the real prospects, despite the geographical distance of the countries, in building mutually beneficial trade, economic, investment, cultural and humanitarian ties, including in the field of agriculture, alternative electricity, tourism, science and education, involving best practices of New Zealand.

At the meeting, proposals for creating a reliable normative-legal framework for cooperation, in particular, on preparation and signing of agreements on trade-economic and scientific-technical cooperation, mutual protection and promotion of investments, avoidance of double taxation and others were considered.
