Agricultural machinery, dairy products and tourism: Belarus and Uzbekistan outline areas of regional cooperation
July 6, Mogilev /BELTA Corr./. The expansion of supplies of agricultural machinery, dairy products and furniture, as well as the exchange of tourist groups and athletes between Belarus’ Mogilev Region and Uzbekistan’s Jizzakh Region, was discussed on July 6 by Deputy Chairperson of the Mogilev Regional Executive Committee Elena Prudnikova-Kirpichenok and Deputy Hokim of Jizzakh Region Bahrom Yusupov, BELTA’s correspondent reports.Since agriculture accounts for a significant share of Uzbekistan’s economy, the Belarusian side offered its partners a wide range of agricultural machinery. Regional enterprises, such as OJSC “UKH “BobruiskAgromash”, produce forage harvesting machinery, equipment for applying liquid agrochemical fertilizers and trailers. Small tractor machinery manufactured by OJSC “Bobruisk Plant of Tractor Parts and Units” may be of interest to farms.
Elena Prudnikova-Kirpichenok noted that, in addition to mechanical engineering, woodworking enterprises of Mogilev Region also have export potential. Key exporters of wood products include OJSC “FanDOK”, OJSC “Mogilevdrev”, Foreign LLC “Mebelain” and others. The region is also known for its high-quality food products. The flagship of the dairy industry is OJSC “Babushkina Krynka”, which produces more than 380 product items. “We are interested in supplying butter, cheeses, dry dairy products, including mixtures for cocktails and ice cream, to your region,” the deputy chairperson of the regional executive committee emphasized.
The parties also touched upon the development of social, cultural and tourism ties, paying special attention to participation in major events. “A number of important events are held annually on Mogilev land. For example, this weekend the national festival ‘Alexandria Gathers Friends’ will take place. We also hold the investment forum ‘Mill of Success’. We will be glad to see a delegation from Jizzakh Region at all our events,” Elena Prudnikova-Kirpichenok added. She expressed confidence that the visit would help strengthen mutually beneficial relations between the regions.
Bahrom Yusupov noted the high level of development of the food and woodworking industries in Mogilev Region. “We discussed a wide range of issues on which we can cooperate with Mogilev Region,” the deputy hokim said. “I was glad to hear that meat and dairy products, as well as furniture products, are highly developed in Mogilev Region and that you can supply them to Uzbekistan. In turn, we are ready to supply our products: fruits, dried fruits, ready-made textiles and cars.”
He also invited representatives of Mogilev Region to visit Jizzakh Region, noting the beauty of Belarusian landscapes and the diversity of Uzbekistan’s landscapes — from mountains to desert areas. “There are points of contact, especially in the field of tourism,” Bahrom Yusupov noted. “We are also happy and ready to organize tourist and business trips to your region. We look forward to welcoming entrepreneurs and residents of Mogilev.”
The delegation of Jizzakh Region will stay in Belarus until July 9. The visit program includes trips to industrial enterprises and familiarization with the region’s production potential.-0-
