An industrial zone for projects of Japanese companies worth $500 million will appear in the Samarkand region

Shavkat Mirziyoyev held a meeting on the topic of integrated development of districts of the Samarkand region. The President supported the creation of pedestrian streets in the historical part of Samarkand and projects to improve infrastructure.

At the meetingwas consideredprogress in implementing instructions for the development of the region given by the head of state in December 2025 and March 2026. As a result of the December trip, $100 million was allocated for the implementation of socio-economic development measures.

There was a shortage of high-paying jobs in a number of areas. Thus, the Narpai, Koshrabad, Pakhtachi, Kattakurgan districts and the city of Kattakurgan in total provide only 10% of the region’s industrial production. The level of unemployment and poverty in Kattakurgan and three other districts is significantly higher than the regional average.

It is proposed to develop territories based on specialization in specific areas. Thus, in the Narpai district it is planned to create an industrial zone with an area of ​​100 hectares and attract $500 million in investments with the participation of large Japanese companies.

The city of Kattakurgan will also be positioned as a growth point for industry and services. Akdarya district will receive specialization in poultry farming, textile industry and processing of agricultural products.

Bulungur, Koshrabad, Pakhtachi and Kattakurgan districts will become centers of agriculture, livestock breeding and horticulture. In Bulungur it is planned to launch a breeding farm for 100 thousand sheep per year for $50 million, and in the Koshrabad and Akdarya regions - complexes for raising 800 thousand breeding chickens for $20 million.

During the meeting, projects in the following areas were presented:

• reduction in the Narpai, Pakhtachi, Pastdargom districts and Kattakurgan unemployment rates by 3%, poverty - by 2%;


• an increase of 20% in exports in 6 regions;


• double expansion of services and industrial production in Kattakurgan and 7 other districts.

The President gave instructions to fully utilize the capabilities available in each region. The goal is to ensure the creation of new jobs, growth in incomes of the population and reduction of the economic gap between territories.
