Belarus and Uzbekistan approve joint action plan in the agro-industrial sector
July 7, Minsk /BELTA Corr./. Belarus and Uzbekistan have approved a joint action plan in the agro-industrial sector. This was reported to BELTA by the press service of the Ministry of Agriculture and Food. The Ministry of Agriculture and Food hosted a working meeting between Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Food Alexander Yakovchits and a delegation from Uzbekistan headed by Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Director of the Agency for the Development of Livestock and Pasture Farming Orif Butaev. The negotiations took place ahead of the III Forum of Regions of the two countries.
The meeting resulted in the signing of an action plan to increase mutual trade in food products and agricultural raw materials to $1 billion by 2030. The document sets out the parties’ intentions to increase exports, use the mechanisms of the Belarusian Universal Commodity Exchange and expand cooperation.
Trade dynamics confirm the effectiveness of the partnership: in the first four months of 2026, exports of Belarusian products to Uzbekistan increased by almost 50%, while supplies of meat and dairy products showed multiple growth. Special attention was paid to the implementation of a major investment project to create a full-cycle poultry meat production facility in Tashkent Region. The enterprise, whose products are already represented in the markets of CIS countries, continues to scale up based on Belarusian technologies.
“We have reached a level of trust that allows us to move away from routine protocol phrases and immediately proceed to substantive cooperation,” Alexander Yakovchits emphasized. “We are focusing on deepening cooperation in livestock farming, without forgetting crop production, and are aimed at the comprehensive development of all areas of the agro-industrial complex.”
Orif Butaev noted that relations between Belarus and Uzbekistan are developing rapidly and on multiple levels. “The parties still have substantial unrealized potential, which we do not intend to postpone until 2030. The responsibility and integrity of our partners allow us to implement joint projects much earlier than the planned deadlines,” he added.
The parties confirmed their readiness for further integration. A new impetus to cooperation will be given by the signing of a memorandum of intent in the agro-industrial sector, which will take place as part of the III Forum of Regions of Belarus and Uzbekistan in Minsk.-0-
