Tashkent region tasked with making it exemplary in horticulture

The President of Uzbekistan instructed the khokim Zoyir Mirzayev to make the Tashkent region a model in horticulture and increase agricultural exports to $300 million. It is planned to create raspberry and blueberry plantations, vineyards and cherry orchards in the districts, as well as to establish the production of pomegranate juice.

On October 15, at a meeting in Almalyk, the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev instructed the khokim of the Tashkent region Zoyir Mirzayev to make the region a model in horticulture and increase exports to $300 million.

A significant difference in the use of agricultural land in the Tashkent region compared to Andijan has been recorded. Despite the fact that the area of agricultural land in the region is 1.5 times larger than in Andijan, the volume of production remains at the same level. The average income per hectare in the region was also 2 times lower than in Andijan, 1.5 times less than in Namangan and Fergana, and 1.3 times less than in Bukhara.

Over the past three years, 21 thousand hectares of land have been transferred to 51 thousand residents for agriculture. However, the volume of fruit and vegetable exports since the beginning of the year amounted to only 72 million dollars, which is less than last year. The region also recorded losses of up to 10 million dollars from annual exports due to the inefficient use of 2,200 hectares of orchards and vineyards.

Among other problems is the low position of the Tashkent region in the implementation of water-saving technologies.

In this regard, the first deputy khokim of the region for agriculture and water management Botir Alimbekov was dismissed from his post for failure to use the potential of the region's agriculture and ineffective management of the prepared system. He held this post since January of this year, and before that he worked as the khokim of the Chinaz district.

The President reported that on the basis of the new gardening system, it was ordered to create raspberry and blueberry plantations on areas of 1,000 hectares on the foothill lands in Akhangaran and Bostanlyk, vineyards on an area of 2,000 hectares in Parkent, cherry orchards on 1,000 hectares in Akhangaran.

In Angren, it is planned to establish the production of 650 thousand cans of pomegranate juice per year, in the Akhangaran district - the processing of 50 thousand tons of plums.

This year, families in the Tashkent region will be provided with an additional 5,000 hectares of land for agriculture and gardening, the head of state said.
