The production of agricultural machinery in Uzbekistan is planned to increase fivefold by 2028

In 2026-2028, Uzbekistan plans to increase the production volume of domestic agricultural machinery and equipment fivefold, and increase the level of localization by 10%. About this on February 23reportedPresidential press service following a meeting chaired by Shavkat Mirziyoyev.

In 2026, it is planned to increase the production of equipment to 6,000 units, and by 2028 to increase the level of localization to 30-35% for self-propelled equipment and to 60-65% for mounted and trailed equipment.

Deputy Chairman of the Board for Innovation and Investment at Uzavtosanoat Davron Khidoyatov, in an interview with the Uzbekistan 24 TV channel, noted that it is planned to increase the production of equipment from 3,200 to 5,780 units. However, at the meeting the task was set to load capacity by 70%. According to him, this will require a revision of the plan to 7,000 units of equipment per year and the mobilization of all resources, as well asprice reductions.

“The main competitors are equipment from other countries. For example, equipment with a capacity of 80 horsepower costs 300 million soums, but we managed to reduce it to 259 million soums due to increased localization. This is not the end yet, work continues. The goal for 2027 is to produce 14 thousand units of equipment. There are all the possibilities and resources for this,” said Davron Khidoyatov.

As an example, he cited the experience of Karakalpakstan, Khorezm region and Pakhtaabad district of Andijan region, where farmers received two tractors and trailed equipment. According to him, this made it possible to increase the level of mechanization to 90%, increase the yield of rice by 18%, wheat by 27%, and cotton by 25%. Total income amounted to 5.4 billion soums.

It is also reported that, together with the Polytechnic University of Turin and the German engineering company CLAAS, an academy will be created to train specialists with an annual intake of up to 1000 students.

Let us remind you that in 2023 the agricultural engineering clusterstartedproduction of tractors in Chirchik. Until April 2026, import of agricultural machineryreleasedfrom customs duties and recycling fees.

Subsidies

The current system of subsidizing the purchase of equipment and components applies only to machines with a localization level above 25%. At the presentation, it was proposed to introduce subsidies also for the three most popular types of imported equipment. In total, 660 billion soums are planned to be spent this year to reimburse 15% of the cost of equipment.

Deputy Minister of Agriculture Alisher Shukurov, in an interview with the Uzbekistan 24 TV channel, said that last year more than $250 million was allocated for the purchase of modern equipment, and this year the amount of funding is planned to increase to $400 million.

“In addition, 1 trillion soums will be allocated for subsidies and another 200 billion soums for localizing the production of agricultural machinery. This opens up significant opportunities for the industry. Farmers are given a real chance to update existing equipment, purchase new ones and develop their farms,” noted Alisher Shukurov.

According to him, this year it is planned to supply another 800 cotton picking machines. Funding is also provided for all types of equipment used in agriculture, including equipment for vegetable growing, gardening and other mechanized systems.

Agrobank will provide loans for the purchase of agricultural machinery in the amount of up to 3.9 trillion soums.

In addition, each region has been instructed to create one agricultural service zone with the participation of an agricultural agent. Farmers will be able to receive banking and consulting services there, take advantage of soil monitoring and analysis services, delivery of seedlings, consultations with agronomists, and also receive information about training courses.
