Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz ) -- Minister of Agriculture of Uzbekistan Ibrahim Abdurakhmanov held a meeting with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Federal Republic of Germany to Uzbekistan Tilo Klinner.

The meeting focused on cooperation projects in the field of agriculture, as well as future plans of the German Organization for International Cooperation (GIZ) in this area.

Special attention was paid to the project "Ecologically oriented regional development of the Aral Sea region" ("Eco-Aral"). The aim of this project is to support the trans-border economic development of the Aral Sea region with an emphasis on environmental sustainability.

At the meeting, Minister of Agriculture Ibrahim Abdurakhmanov and the head of the German Organization for International Cooperation (GIZ) in Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan and Kazakhstan, Joachim Fritz, signed an additional agreement to the contract for the implementation of the Eco-Aral project. This agreement extends the project's implementation period until the end of 2025.

One of the goals of the GIZ project is to strengthen regional planning through the development of a strategic environmental assessment (SEA). In addition, improving the living conditions of local residents of the Aral Sea region and the sustainable use of resources for crossing borders are also among the goals of this project.
