An agency for payments in the agricultural sector is being created in Uzbekistan
From 2026, it is planned to introduce voluntary crop insurance for cotton, grain, fruit and leguminous crops in Uzbekistan. There will also be an Agency for Payments in the Agricultural Sector, which will unite 75 types of subsidies.
On November 17, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev got acquainted with proposals for financial support for farmers. This was reported by the presidential press service.
From 2026, it is proposed to introduce a system of voluntary crop insurance for cotton, grain, fruit and leguminous crops. Half of the insurance premium under this system will be covered by the state budget.
To simplify the state support system, it is planned to create an Agency for Payments in the Agricultural Sector. It will combine 75 types of subsidies, which are currently provided by various ministries and departments, into a single digital platform.
It is expected that the creation of a single agency will significantly reduce bureaucratic barriers and red tape for farmers.
The President approved these proposals.
According to the Ministry of Economy and Finance, in the first half of 2025, 14.96 trillion soums were allocated from the state budget for subsidies, including 797 billion soums for agriculture and water management (for the same period in 2024 there were 467 billion soums):
- For the purchase of laser planners and seeders for grain - 182 billion soums;
- For state support of agriculture - 264 billion soums;
- To support raw cotton producers - 90 billion soums;
- To cover leasing or credit interest allocated for the purchase of agricultural machinery - 85 billion soums;
- To compensate for the cost of electricity consumed by farms - 64 billion soums;
- For the introduction of water-saving technologies in agriculture - 73 billion soums;
- For the purchase of breeding livestock and poultry - 30 billion soums;
- For the purchase of laser planners in Karakalpakstan - 10 billion soums.
In 2024, a total of 25.5 trillion soums were allocated from the state budget for subsidies, of which 1.65 trillion soums were allocated to agriculture and water management.
