Development of cooperation between Uzbekistan and the USA in the agricultural sector

Today, the Minister of Agriculture of Uzbekistan Ibrohim Abdurakhmanov held a meeting with a delegation led by Josef Smentek, Executive Director of the Minnesota Soybean Association.

During the meeting, issues of establishing bilateral cooperation were discussed, in particular, the implementation of projects in the field of soybean processing.

At the beginning of the conversation, Ibrohim Abdurakhmanov noted that in recent years, bilateral relations have been developing on the basis of trust, respect and mutually beneficial principles. Cooperation in the field of agricultural education and exchange of experience is expanding especially actively. He emphasized that further development of partnership in agriculture will benefit both parties, and will also be an important step in ensuring food security.

In turn, Josef Smentek spoke about global projects of American companies on growing and processing soybeans, as well as on export potential indicators. He expressed interest in implementing projects on soybean processing and feed production in Uzbekistan.

The Minister noted that the Government of Uzbekistan is ready to support investment projects and the Ministry of Agriculture will provide assistance within its authority. He emphasized that it is currently important to move from bureaucratic processes to the practical implementation of projects.

During the discussion, the issues of logistics in the delivery of soybean raw materials from the United States to Uzbekistan, as well as ensuring affordable prices for consumers, were also touched upon.

It should be noted that soybean oil is the most produced and consumed oil in the world, and soybean meal is the main raw material for the feed industry.

In addition, soybeans play an important role in improving the soil structure, which is especially important in the context of deteriorating ecology. Soy products are widely used to increase the productivity of farm animals.
