Russia and Uzbekistan are strengthening their partnership in the agricultural sector and implementing the road map for 2025–2027
Russia and Uzbekistan are increasing cooperation in the agro-industrial complex. At the end of last year, trade turnover of agricultural products and food increased by 20%, approaching $2 billion.
This was announced by the Chairman of the Federation Council Committee on Agricultural and Food Policy and Environmental Management, Alexander Dvoinykh, following the tenth meeting of the Commission on Interparliamentary Cooperation between Russia and Uzbekistan, held in the format of a videoconference.
Development of cooperation in the agro-industrial complex
At the meeting, plans for further development of cooperation in the agricultural sector were discussed. Currently, a road map is being implemented to intensify cooperation between Russia and Uzbekistan for the period 2025–2027.
The document covers key areas of partnership: expanding the range and volume of trade, developing joint projects in the field of veterinary medicine, livestock farming and agricultural education, as well as the exchange of scientific experience between research institutes and specialized institutions.
Joint projects and strategic directions
One of the priority areas of the “road map” is the implementation of the agrological complex project in the Jizzakh region of the Republic of Uzbekistan. Its launch will improve supply efficiency and ensure uninterrupted movement of products between countries.
Special attention is paid to cooperation in the field of selection and seed production, which is under the constant control of the Federation Council. Cooperation in the field of fisheries also continues.
Deepening integration
According to Alexander Dvoinykh, the most important task remains to create conditions for the effective work of the Russian-Uzbek subcommittee on cooperation in the field of agriculture. This body is the main mechanism for coordinating and developing joint initiatives in the agricultural sector.
Cooperation between Russia and Uzbekistan contributes to strengthening food security and the formation of sustainable supply chains in the Eurasian space.
Against the background of strengthening trade ties between Russia and Uzbekistan, the delegation of the republic will take part in the international congress “Fat and Oil Industry”, which will be held on October 28–29 in St. Petersburg. During the event, the parties will discuss the prospects for the supply of oilseeds and their processed products, as well as the development of joint logistics and processing projects.
