Uzbekistan will start labeling fertilizers and pesticides.

From May 1, 2025, Uzbekistan will start a pilot project for the digital labeling of mineral fertilizers and plant protection products. Five companies will participate in the experiment.

Uzbekistan is introducing mandatory digital labeling for pesticides and mineral fertilizers, according to a decree by the Cabinet of Ministers on April 8.

The implementation of this system aims to ensure the use of quality products in the cultivation of export-oriented crops and to prevent counterfeiting and smuggling, as outlined in the President's decree of April 1, 2024.

According to the document, all nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium, and complex fertilizers, microfertilizers, chlorides, sulfates, borates, bromomethane (methyl bromide), and many others are subject to labeling. Additionally, digital codes will be applied to insecticides, fungicides, herbicides, plant growth regulators, and disinfectants, as well as to adhesive tapes and similar devices, Spot reports.

The system will be tested experimentally from May 1 until October 31, 2025. The following five companies will participate in the project:

  • Maxam-Chirchiq

  • Swissagro

  • Ifoda Agro Kimyo Himoya

  • Indorama Kokand Fertilizers and Chemicals

  • Schelkova Agrohim-O'zbekiston

From May 1, 2026, digital labeling of these products will become mandatory.
